Clay mining

VESCO quarries mining

The first stage

Overburden removal works that are carried out by several horizons at a depth up to 40 meters.

The second stage

Selective clay extraction which is done by single bucket excavators, according to parameters of raw materials with further accumulation in different piles at intermediate warehouse. Layer of clay is up to 2,5 meters thickness and divided into 6 to 10 types of clay.

The third stage

Full recreation of mined area with the restoration of the fertile black soil layer

Innovative laboratory

Product quality control is realizing at each stage of mining. The control sampling of raw material are delivered to VESCO’s own laboratory for detailed research analysis. The laboratory operates in two directions: determination of the chemical and mineralogical composition of clays and ceramic tests. More than $2 million have been already invested into laboratory equipment and personnel training updating to modern standards. It makes possible to obtain a ready operation flow chart, which includes a full range of research data and recommendations on the possible use of a clay type. We can provide detailed information on chemical, mineralogical, and granulometric composition of clay, its ceramic properties, including the progress curve plotting when heating the sample, which will allow finding the optimal composition of the masses, the modes of drying and firing of various ceramic products.

Technical solutions

Regular complete analysis of clay are carried out in VESCO laboratory to understand how mined raw materials interact with other components that our partners use in production process. Today VESCO has all modern capacities to find the best technological solutions for our partners, taking into account the unique features of equipment and available raw materials.

Production processes

All manufacturing processes at enterprises comply with international certificate program (ISO) that enables VESCO to be the full-fledge participant of the global clay mining industry and guarantees the safety and highest quality of the products.
